Visit a miniature, humorous world of hand-crafted model scenes

Spend a morning or afternoon exploring Babbacombe Model Village in Torquay, a unique miniature world set in 4 acre gardens.

There’s fun, humour and puns everywhere, some obvious, some subtle, and a quick visit is never enough to spot them all.

You can spend 2-3 hours taking in the 400 model scenes.

The village portrays British life and culture over the decades - stately homes, factories, shops and entertainment venues from medieval to Victorian. Video.

Some of the larger models, such as Bath Crescent, cost £30,000 to build.

A scale model railway loops around between the buildings, and don't forget to activate the fire-breathing dragon!

Fans of The Beatles prepare to be wowed by the world’s favourite Fab Four tribute.

Liverpool-born Mersey Beatles have been rocking audiences around the globe since 1999 with their tribute.

You’ll get the clothes, instruments, cheeky Scouse wit and the era-defining Mersey sound in this 2 hour show at the Palace Theatre, Paignton.

The set is a “magical history tour” of hits from the Beatlemania period through the psychedelia of Sgt Pepper and the melodies and energy of later work.

“The best Beatles tribute band around” says The British Beatles Fan Club.

How to paint with natural pigments

Feeling creative? Want to explore natural painting?

Attend a day workshop at Westward Ho! to learn basic paint-making techniques and experiment with natural art methods.

You’ll be introduced to a range of pigments from the North Devon area, including the historic Bideford Black.

The workshop is led by artist and expert Pete Ward who gets colours from soils, clays and even mining waste.

Saturday 19th August at Northam Burrows Visitor Centre.

All materials included. No experience necessary.

It’s Swiftogeddon, 4 hours of non-stop Taylor Swift worship

A night dedicated to worshipping at the altar of Taylor Swift is on at the Exeter Phoenix on Saturday 23rd September.

It’s non-stop Swifty with deep cuts, extended mixes, fan favourites and all the hits.

If you’re a Taylor Swift fan, 18 or over, and have a blank space in your diary, this night is made for you.

Calling all warrior women! Walk 10K in nature and raise money for charity

Girls, take part in a stunning 10K walk around Dartmoor and help the cause of Trevi, the Plymouth charity that supports victims of domestic abuse.

The women-only walk goes around the beautiful Burrator reservoir, along the historic Devonport Leat and into the rugged moorland of Sheepstor.

Each entrant gets a Warrior Woman T-shirt, a medal and a day out with friends and like-minded women.

Raising sponsorship for the charity is encouraged but not required.

Trevi is the only charity in the UK that provides residential care for women with drug and alcohol addiction together with their children.

Sunday October 15. Registration £20. U10s £10. Dogs are permitted on a lead.
